Ultragotha

Ultragotha

Ultragotha[1] (or Ultrogothe), 510 - after 566/567, was a Frankish queen of the Merovingian dynasty via her marriage to Childebert I, reigning from c.541-558. They had two daughters, possibly named Chrodoberge et Chrodesinde[2]. When Childebert died in 558, his brother Clotaire I seized his kingdom and took control of the Palais de la Cité in Paris, where the royal treasures and the family of the deceased were. According to Gregory of Tours, he then condemned Ultrogotha and the two daughters to prison. Upon reuniting the kingdom of Clovis, Clotaire I freed them; the daughters likely became nuns.[3] She died in around 567 and was buried in the St-Germain-des-Prés along with Childebert.[4] The two daughters are also buried there. In 580, again according to Gregory of Tours, Ultrogotha's former Chancellor, Ursicinus, was chosen by Maurilio, bishop of Cahors, as his successor.[5]. Stadsfries dialects

Stadsfries or Town Frisian (Dutch: Stadsfriesch, Stadfriesch, Stadsfries, Stadfries; West Frisian: stedsk, stedfrysk) is a set of dialects spoken in certain cities in the province of Friesland in the northern Netherlands, namely Leeuwarden, Sneek, Bolsward, Franeker, Dokkum, Harlingen, Stavoren, and to some extent in Heerenveen. For linguistic reasons, the outlying and insular dialects of Midsland (Terschelling), Ameland, Het Bildt, and Kollum are also sometimes tied to Stadsfries. The vocabulary of Stadsfries is derived primarily from Dutch. The dialects began in the late 15th century, when Frisia lost its political independence to the Netherlands. For many living in Frisia, learning Dutch became a necessity. The result was a mixture of Hollandic dialect vocabulary and West Frisian grammar and other language principles. Since this process began, the West Frisian language itself has evolved, such that Stadsfries is further away from modern Frisian than it is from Old Frisian. Norval Smith states that Stadsfr

The Action of 7 July 1799 was a minor naval engagement of the Napoleonic Wars in which the Spanish 34-gun frigate Nuestra Señora del Carmen captured the Royal Navy's 18-gun Hired armed cutter Penelope, which was under the command of Sir Frederick Maitland. Background In June 1799, the French and Spanish fleets under Admirals Mazarredo and Bruix, amounting to forty sail of the line, and upwards of thirty frigates and smaller vessels, joined up at Cartagena. RK2 plasmid

The RK2 Plasmid is a broad-host-range plasmid belonging to the incP incompatibility group[1] It is notable for its ability to replicate in a wide variety of single-celled organisms, which makes it suitable as a genetic engineering tool.[2] It is capable of transfer, replication, and maintenance in most genera of Gram-negative bacteria. RK2 may sometimes be referred to as pRK2, which is also the name of another, unrelated plasmid.[3][4][5] The IncP-1 plasmid group (IncP plasmids in Escherichia coli) of which RK2 is a part has been described as "highly potent, self-transmissible, selfish DNA molecules with a complicated regulatory circuit"[6] Discovery RK 2 was first isolated in connection with an outbreak of antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella aerogenes in Birmingham in 1969, as one of a family of plasmids implicated in transfer of Ampicillin resistance between bacterial strains.[7] Plasmids in the IncP-1 subgroup has been isolated from wastewater, agricultural soil, and hospitals.[8]

Roman Pyatkovka

Roman Pyatkovka (Роман Пятковка) is a leading exponent of Ukrainian conceptual photography most strongly associated with the Kharkiv School of Fine Art Photography. Pyatkovka pioneered a style of photography which challenged the prevailing ethos of Socialist Realism, the style which had dominated Soviet photography and filmmaking since the early 1930s. In contrast to Socialist Realism which portrayed scenes of a harmonious communist society, photographers of the Kharkiv School challenged the prevailing status quo with a socially challenging contemporary aesthetic. Pyatkovka’s use of overlays and hand-colouring helped define this new style, one which would continue to push artistic boundaries both during and after the more artistically varied Perestroyka years. In 1989 he joined the National Society of Photo Artists of Ukraine (NSPAU). Pyatkovka has exhibited worldwide including at the Multimedia Art Museum (Moscow, Russia), the National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) (Moscow, Russia), Museum of Ken Damy
