2020 coronavirus pandemic in India

The first case of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic in India was reported on 30 January 2020, originating from China. As of 31 March 2020, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have confirmed a total of 1,251 cases, 101 recoveries, 1 migration and 32 deaths in the country.[5] Experts suggest the number of infections could be a substantial underestimate, as India's testing rates are among the lowest in the world.[6] The infection rate of COVID-19 in India is reported to be 1.7, significantly lower than in the worst affected countries.[7] The outbreak has been declared an epidemic in more than a dozen states and union territories, where provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 have been invoked, and educational institutions and many commercial establishments have been shut down. India has suspended all tourist visas, as a majority of the confirmed cases were linked to other countries.[8] On 22 March 2020, India observed a 14-hour voluntary public curfew at the insistence of the prime minister Narendra

During the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, Iran reported its first confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.[3] As of 17 March 2020, according to Iranian health authorities, there had been 988 COVID-19 deaths in Iran with more than 16,000 confirmed infections.[4][5][6] As of 20 March 2020, Iran has the third highest number of COVID-19 deaths after China and Italy, the highest in Western Asia and the fourth-highest number of SARS-CoV-2 cases, surpassed only by Mainland China, Italy, and Spain. Some non-Iranian-government sources estimates of the numbers of SARS-CoV-2 infections and COVID-19 deaths are much higher than official values.[7][8][9] The Iranian government has also been accused of coverups, censorship and mismanagement.[10][11][12][13] However, the World Health Organisation says that it has not seen problems with Iran's reported figures.[14] Multiple Iranian government ministers and senior officials have been diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 positive, including Iraj Harirchi,[15] Masou

Several Southeast Asian countries experienced a significant rise in cases following a Tabligh Akbar event from February 27 to March 1 at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur, where many people are believed to have been infected.[3][4] The event had about 16,000 attendees, including about 1,500 from outside Malaysia.[4] Attendees shared food, sat close together, and held hands at the event. According to guests, the leaders of the event didn't talk about COVID-19[5] precautions, but most attendees washed their hands during the event. Malaysian authorities were criticized for allowing the event to go forward.[3] Confirmed cases Afghanistan On 23 February 2020,
